Re: Loose chassis nut (hank bush) fix

The metric size closest is M5 x .08, but that's not a perfect fit either. Neither that nor the 10-32 bolt would thread all the way in on my chassis. They'd go in a few turns, then jam. One of my older 103's was missing two original bolts, so I tapped all four out to 10-32. The tap barely touched the...

Re: DR504 Canadian Import Conversion

And... it's done. The über-gain is history, and no more splatty-ness. It's much more like a classic early-mid '70s HIWATT now. :D :D :D The only issue I'm finding is turning up the normal volume when plugged into the bright channel introduces some hum. Hmmmm... I had the normal channel mixer input ...

Re: Heater voltage tolerance

Yeah I just noticed that after seeing the connections on the transformer... since you're bring line voltage over the the secondary side too.
As always THANKS Mark!

Cheers

BTW - my VHR cap kit just arrived... FAST shipping (Thanks Clayton!) and great quality. I'll be busy this weekend

Re: Heater voltage tolerance

10% high (or low) on the heaters is OK. I use a Vintage Voltage Adapter to knock down the US mains at my house to 117 or so. http://www.instructables.com/id/VIntage_Voltage_for_old_Equipment/ --mark Thanks for the info Mark... looks perfect. I like the idea of getting a step-down transformer and li...

Heater voltage tolerance

I've just bought a VHR cap kit for my '78 DR105 (still has the originals which are starting to "bulge"), and while servicing the amp performed some measurements. My heater voltage is running a bit high... ~3.5VAC to gnd on each side. That puts the voltage at 7VAC, which is around 10% highe...

Re: Chassis bolt threading

Thanks for the help... I brought an original with me to the hardware store (just in case), and it sure looked like 10-32.
Brought them home and they will thread a bit before binding. Close but they won't go in all the way.
M5x.8 maybe?
Cheers

Chassis bolt threading

Anyone know the correct bolt threading for a '70s Hylight chassis? I'm short one bolt and thought I'd ask before going to the hardware store.
Looks like 1/4-20?
Thanks!

Re: Introduce yourself

I know... SORRY! I will have to change it anyway, and alter my sig, as I just got rid of my AD200. I'm keeping the cabs though, at least until Bill ships the new Reeves bass cabs. 8) The proceeds from the Orange head will be used to build the VHR kit... at least that's what I'm thinking, but ...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi everyone
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a VHR 100 kit, and have been looking around here... great site!
I already know many of you from P/P, and know I'm in the right place.

Cheers
