Re: speaker for my comb? Also tube?

Just as a point of comparison, I too have a 1979 SA112 (23/3/79 out of interest!) and am about to start the process of changing the 8ohm goodmans axiom that mine came with (replacing the original fane as it is dated from 1976...and has a £20 price sticker on it) with a 16 ohm speaker. Firstly out of...

Re: Wow! Just wow! '79 SA112

My buddy is a Marshall guy...well...he's now shopping for a hiwatt. That huge, girthy sound, and tightness switched him on. And the RCAs are killer. A I'd found a quad, I sent a set to my buddy for his help on the amp. Loves them in his vintage fifty. So much tone for a $4.00 gamble on clean looking...

Wow! Just wow! '79 SA112

Have just had a mate do some work on my SA112, namely installing a bias trim, and literally blowing the cobwebs out of it. One of the mismatched eh svetlanas it came with measured something like 65ma! No wonder it was getting warm. Installed some low hour RCA 6CA7s that I got at a yard sale, and wow...

Wow - never knew!

I live on an Island, and will be on the mainland to collect it soon. It's going to a friends house in the interim, so I'll see if he can grab a shot.

Re: SA112 Bias method? Opinions

Hi Mark,

It's a 50 watt one. I've been tempted to make up a bias tool - they're just all straight through, but a 1 ohm resister on pin 8, with test points either side right?

Can you point me to the tube FAQ?

Cheers,

Andrew

Cheers Doc,

I'll post a few pics when I get it. The a few scuffs on the covering, but grill is un-torn. It appears to be painted.

SA112 Bias method? Opinions

Hi, I'm about to delve into my SA112 further to sort a few small issues - probably a volume pot (real mismatch in channel volume despite tube changes), and the fact it seems to run a bit warm, temperature wise. What's the best method to ascertain bias & set bias? I'll pop some new power valves i...

Re: WTB Fane 122879D for SA112

I had an FL112 with a Black Shadow once - in my experience, it sounded better with almost everything. :D

Do you still have that pulled speaker, Doc??
