Re: Blue label Fane Speaker 125139 any good?

Thanks for your reply Dave, my neighbour who is into Brit. gear told me the same thing today. Those speaker are nothing special and have been widely used, also in transistorized AC30 at some time. I'll be investing in some other gear firs before I decide on more cabs and speakers. Thanks for the inf...

Blue label Fane Speaker 125139 any good?

Hi some folk is offering me 2 12" Fane speaker w. # 125139 inked on the chassis. The magnet have the blue sticker on it. I have a 70ies 4 X 12" cab loaded w. fane speaker that came from an Orange Box. I really love playing that cab. It has more rounded highs and a nice saturation. To my 19...

Re: 70ies HIWATT cab. Metric threads for speaker bolts?

All right. I've finally wired it all up and did a test ride w. a 50 W Plexi head in my flat. It's sunday today so I didn't drive it to max, just at 4 or 5 Ha ha. What I haven't begun yet is installing the new Marshall style handles as my order is still on its' way. I was surprised to hear the cab be...

Re: 70ies HIWATT cab. Metric threads for speaker bolts?

Did HIWATT cabs originally come with clamps? I would have to fabricate them. But then I wonder if they had the rubber dampening ring the other way round.

Re: 70ies HIWATT cab. Metric threads for speaker bolts?

Hmm,..I try to figure out how to mount the speakers. It seems like the front panel is not removable, so I was assuming that the speakers attach as front loaders. But when trieing to do so two things just seem wrong. First the bolt radius is larger on the cab than it is the case on the speakers and s...

Re: 70ies HIWATT cab. Metric threads for speaker bolts?

All right, finally got the correct bolts from a local hard ware store. Pulled out a receptacle and took it to the shop. Unfortunately they only had them in stainless steel. I was glad to get this UNFE in my city, so with a whopping 30 $ I took them home with the washers. Anyway the right bolts to go...

Re: 70ies HIWATT cab. Metric threads for speaker bolts?

I'd measure the diameter of the thread and look for the nearest 'BA' bolt as a first choice. I'd guess 2BA, a common British bolt ( B ritish A ssociation...) used for many years, and rife in the '60s/'70s. Good luck. Re: Fane speaker out of Orange any good?

I opened the box today and thought that the magnets are pretty small compared to what I've seen on other photos of other fane speakers. Is there a way to tell them apart from Alnico magnets. Any rule of thumb what a smaller magnet can do other than a bi magnet. I'm pretty new to speakers so, please ...
