Re: #14765 on eBay
I'm not looking to buy it as I just got my 1980 DR103 (turret board) a few weeks back. I was just curious about this one as I thought it might be another example of the oddity I just got. Mine has all things you'd find on the PCB versions, just that it is a stock turret board arrangement.

#14765 on eBay
Just saw this on eBay and was curious of how it compared to my 1980 DR103. http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-1979-1980-Hiwatt-DR103-custom-100-amp-head-NoR_W0QQitemZ110497072007QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL?hash=item19ba238387#ht_13487wt_1167 This one is PCB, but the price looks reason...

Re: 1980 Hylight DR103
The inspection date on this one is 31-1-80, or January 31, 1980. So PCBs were in the plans for soon hereafter, or was it at the same time? IDK.

1980 Hylight DR103
Hey Folks, I started a new thread for this amp. It's a 1980 Hylight DR103 that is a turret board amp but has features from the PCB amps (line in and chassis). Here are links to the photos: http://www.tonicamps.com/de_photos/IMG_0265.jpg http://www.tonicamps.com/de_photos/IMG_0266.jpg http://www.toni...

Re: how to identify a Dave Reeves wired amp V. a Harry Joyce
The pics are too big. That is a transitional amp. It is the only one I have seen with the line out and turret boards. The line out is usually an indicator of a PC board amp, and this amp certainly was built at the end of the turret board period. We should start it's own thread and remove it from th...

Re: how to identify a Dave Reeves wired amp V. a Harry Joyce
Thanks.
When did Hiwatt start using PCBs? Was that purely in the Biacrown era? Also, did Reeves and crew start putting marker on their solder joints at some point?

Re: how to identify a Dave Reeves wired amp V. a Harry Joyce
What is the latest known HJ wired amps? I ask as I just picked up a 1980 Hylight (inspection date 31-1-80) DR103 that has blue marker on all the solder joints and wires coming from under the board. It's kind of an odd ball amp as it has all the cap cans inside the chassis, retains the heat shield, a...

Re: 73 and 76 Crescendo A
I got that feeling as well, the he is a nice guy that doesn't know what he has. I suggested to him that shipping can be disastrous, so if someone were to buy them in the US, that he would have to package them up in a bomb proof manner.

Re: Bonamassa kicks A$$
Great player for sure. I remember when he was a scrawny little kid playing lightning fast riffs and jamming with Gatton and BB. I met him this year at the LA Amp Show when he and his tech came through my demo room. His tech is a HUGE Hiwatt fan and he came by to check out the new Fanes. Of course he...

Re: 73 and 76 Crescendo A
Thanks for the info guys. I'll suggest the same thing to him about shipping. Maybe he'll change his mind, but then again maybe not. Too bad that he's being that way as those are some pretty rare speakers.

Re: 73 and 76 Crescendo A
Yeah, shipping can be a killer. I don't even want to comment on how much freight cost to ship from the UK to California
I take that the market has softened on everything as I have heard these sell for big money in the UK.
Where did you see them posted for sale?

Re: Fane Re-issues
Hey Folks, I have talked Fane into moving forward with the vintage spec reissues of the Purple and Crescendo A models. We have been working on this for about a year and a half, so it has been a long effort that we didn't want to abandon. We are going to release 2 versions of the Purple, most likely ...

73 and 76 Crescendo A
Hi Folks, I am new here, however I am the North American Distributor of Fane (guitar line only). I just wanted to run this by you guys. I have a client who contacted me about brokering the sale of his 73 and 76 Crescendo A speakers. He has no idea what they are worth and almost sold them both for 10...
