Re: When did the PI voltage supply change in 1969?

Interesting, Traffolyte badge on a 4xx serial number, that's early for a Traffolyte badge, isn't it? It is, but appears to be original. The head box still has the original Rexine and there are only two screw holes where the badge goes. I have a repro metal badge and that doesn't fit the holes. Here...

Re: When did the PI voltage supply change in 1969?

Well, there's this one which is serial # 727, and has the later B+ line: http://www.amparchives.com/folder/124/ Date codes on pots and caps put it at no earlier than second half of 69, but that would be consistent with the rest of the looks. Skinny font Traffolyte Hiwatt badge, so probably among th...

Re: 1981 DR103 Feeler

Not just the orange drop, those silver micas and the dark red caps are all replacements. I'm not sure about the carbon comps either; my old PCB DR103 had all Iskra resistors, other than the 2W CF Pihers.

+1.

Don't screw it up. If it's not your sound, sell it and buy something else.

I've made worse/more expensive mistakes! It's still a very rare cab... looking forward to developments on the repro cloth!

Ouch indeed. I guess that explains why he ignored my requests for more photos, and the questions about the speakers. :|

Re: Early Cab on Ebay

I was tempted but the seller turned me off by not replying.

I'd like to see it when it's cleaned up! 8)

Early Cab on Ebay

Anyone here get this? I was considering it, but the seller ignored my questions.

Re: quiz time! What is wrong with this?

The serial number doesn't make sense, but otherwise it looks very similar to DR103 s/n 1097 - HJ style wiring, same board layout with both halves of V2 used, same head box, same chassis, offset s/n plate etc. What am I missing? :?

DR506 Finally Has A Head Cabinet!

I scored a repro early style head box from Ebay, so at last the DR506 looks the part. Pity about the screw holes from the metal badge... seems this Rexine is NLA so I'll have to live with it. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c351/stuc01/IMG_0703.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c351/stuc01/IMG...

In my experience, connector with pins = plug = male.

Re: '69 DR504 #675

I figured you'd have seen it. I took a risk and put a low-ish bid on, and it was just enough. Blown PTs seem to be pretty common on the 50s; with this one, that makes about half a dozen I've come across with a replaced PT.

Did you also see the one that went for $3K?

'69 DR504 #675

Just picked up this one. Replaced PT, but the original one came with it - apparently still working, but was getting hot. I'll get some better pics in daylight tomorrow.
