Re: JP amp - parasitic oscillation
Do you have a link to some of those? I am looking for a few, both for these two JP Hiwatt conversions I did and for a Bluesbreaker restoration.

Re: JP amp - parasitic oscillation
I don’t have a switch for my amp yet, still need to find a nice looking footswitch box. I think the ones Marshall uses for their HW 18 amps looks close to what Page had for his amp. I need something that matches that nice Cannon XLR inlet I found (which is an exact match with what Page’s amp had). I...

Re: Rare CP103 amp on Ebay
Another slight oddity; shared cathode resistor and cap for V1 and V2. Not something I've seen in any other CP103. I'm confused about this one, many things point to it being original (circuit or faceplate not copied directly from any other known variations, preamp board and wiring style looks very go...

Re: Rare CP103 amp on Ebay
Yeah, if it is a fake, it is a rather good one. The faceplate is also a little odd - if a fake, why not make one with «The Who» labeling? I don’t think I’ve seen that variation on the 4-channel faceplate before.

When it rains, it pours....here's another one! https://reverb.com/item/35114883-hiwatt-dr103-w-4-input-ultra-rare-4-made-for-pete-townshend-dr103w What do the experts make of this? I *think* I see marks from a star washer under the extra preamp hole which makes me think it could have started life as...

Rare CP103 amp on Ebay
I missed this one, but interesting to see what looks like a stock CP103 spec amp from the late 70s: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hiwatt-DR-103-Custom-100-Valve-Amp-1979-RARE-034-Pete-Townshend-034-4-Inputs-The-Who-/233669288059?hash=item3667c6607b%3Ag%3ALuwAAOSwIitfKAo9&nma=true&si=ngfJh7NmkNu...

Re: JP amp - parasitic oscillation
Late to the party, but glad it got sorted. Just a word about the layout posted above - I had forgotten to draw in a 100k jumper. See if you can spot it... ;) Joking aside, I tried both pre-phase inverter arrangements - both the «classic» early 70s cathode follower style, and this late 70s style and ...

Re: Traffolyte badge variations
Thank you! For the record, I am sure the thick ones on my '73 stack are original too. Is there any pattern to when they used the thick or the thin ones?

Traffolyte badge variations
I recently bought a 1971 SE4122. The Traffolyte badge appears to be original, but is somewhat flimsy and thin, much thinner than the ones on my 1971 DR103 and SE4123. In fact, it looks to be about half the thickness. I know that Traffolyte badges are available in both 1.5 and 3 mm thickness. But can...

Re: Correct feet/casters for SE?
Does anyone know where to find casters that would fit a '71 cab? Either originals or a modern replacement that fit in the caster holes. My '73 has the casters, but the '71 I just bought came without casters (and with the skids removed too). I prefer the sound of the cab on casters to avoid coupling ...

Re: 122142 speakers - they're all 17000 Gauss, right?
The cab is finally here, and I can happily report it sounds just as great as I hoped! In fact, this is one particularly killer sounding cab IMHO... I haven't got around to A/Bing with my Sound City cab, but first impression is that it sounds a little woodier, gruntier and with less congested bass (b...

Hey shakti! Meet SN 538, a DR201 (4xKT88) owned by Tich from Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich. Components are around 30th week '68 throughout and unusual preamp - 8+8uf filter, shared cathodes on v1 + v2, 22k presence pot...sounds killer Some other fun things too - factory DI out and factory hal...

Interesting, Traffolyte badge on a 4xx serial number, that's early for a Traffolyte badge, isn't it?

Re: CP103 circuit details question
Thanks for your reply, Mark. I am building it with a 10 k between the PI and V3, then a 22k between the two sections of the preamp filter cap so V1,V2 and V4 are fed from the far side of that resistor. Seems the most likely way it's done judging by the photos.
