Re: Bulgin plug

Thats my point though, most of them have been butchered. I do realize that the new style that we all use on most appliances now is great and you can always come up with one, but damn some of the sins I have seen committed

Bulgin plug

Why are so many of these missing? Almost every vintage hiwatt I see has been hard wired, whats the deal? I personally have 3 male and female bulgin plugs brand new just sitting in a bag, what give about them being bypassed? I understand that the new style Iec? is the most common but so many hack job...

Re: Cap help

Alright so i ordered the 16x32 kit. This weekend I was getting some random passive noise. Its as if it would build up and release then go back to hum. I will just continue to believe that its caps

Re: Cap help

They all need to be done and I will just get the recap kit. I was pretty sure that was the correct item, especially seeing how these pictures were prior to me buying the amp and after a few months of rocking the house with it, they are all a bit wonky now

Cap help

Where does the axial 100uf cap go? Is it where I circled? Im not doing the work Im just nosing around a bit with my amp. The one I circled (not in this picture) looks like a dried up raisin on the sides. Its funny how quickly an amp can go from being ok with very old caps to uh-oh  When I got t...

Re: Gilmour's amps

Probably a Dave Reeves thing. I have seen two 1969 DR103's with them and ground lift switches like a couple of DG's DR103's. I don't know how much he actually used the line out, or quite possibly in this case a "line in" that bypasses the preamp. He used the Alembic preamps for one tour. ...

Re: Gilmour's amps

Someday i want to have a pair of hiwatts and line out on one of em. Its such a toss up on how to do it. Its sacrilege to do that to a museum piece but maybe to a player it would be ok. In the case of Dg hes had those amps since they were brand new and makes his living with em. A line out is not usin...

Gilmour's amps

I saw this picture at PC and it looks like most of his amps have had a slave/direct out added, at least thats what it looks like in one of the pictures. Does anyone know for sure?

Re: A $3,500 Mint DR 103 with mods ???

Not to sound like to much of a dink, why cant we report this as a fraudulent listing? Yest it is vintage but it is not original and he is price gouging. For some reason this really bothers me. If it were something small like some odds and ends were incorrect I would chalk it up to him being ignorant...

Re: A $3,500 Mint DR 103 with mods ???

Maybe Im wrong but I emailed him this I apologize if this will come off harsh but, you do realize that this amp is no where close to 99% factory. It is my impression that Im not the first one to tell you this so then I have to assume you are deliberately attempting to defraud other ebay members. I w...

Re: A $3,500 Mint DR 103 with mods ???

Funny I was coming in here to paste this very auction. I dont have the experience like a lot of you guys, but I kept saying WTF, to myself. I showed another one to Dave a few weeks back that was a 73 that needed some tlc. The seller went out at 1499 it failed to sell and I emailed with him, and got ...
