Re: First post!

Among the things that were obviously changed, I noticed the green standby pilot lamp. There was some resoldering done on the switch. Could that be where to start looking from?

Re: First post!

I forgot to ask if you could please tell me which are the OT primary wires on my DR201? :)

Re: First post!

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I actually tried rewiring as per original specs and the result without speakers (using just a dummy load) was the "motorboating" effect typical of reversed OT primaries. So your guess seems on the spot. It doesn't look like any of the transformers or choke h...

Re: Looking for a nice '70s Hiwatt 4 x 12!

If I should find just the speakers (4 x '70s Fanes), has anyone here ever dealt with a real good cabinet maker who sells high quality Hiwatt 4x12 clones?

Re: First post!

It seems that this mod is not familiar to those I asked about it. In any event, idc because the amp works great as is. I just might get curious enough someday to find out what this is all about. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy playing through it! Btw, I'm still looking for a nice original '...

Thanks guys, I'll check Capsule!
As for "Pentelicus", it seems he won't ship outside of the U.S. though. Too bad!

Looking for a nice '70s Hiwatt 4 x 12!

Yes! Preferably in mint condition with original Fanes to match with my 1972 DR201. To be shipped to Canada!

Re: About my '72 DR201!

Thank you, Mikhail! My caps don't look as critical as the ones on the link you posted, but they are old and I thought it would be good preventive maintenance to change them. Do you agree or should I still wait for other telltale signs of impending catastrophic failure? Do you have experience with sl...

Re: Question for the doctor

Also Doc, can you tell me if your DR201 headcase had a thin metal (tin or aluminum or w/e) sheet (some call it a "Faraday shield") nailed or stapled right beneath where the amp chassis is bolted? Mine doesn't have one and I'm wondering if this is something that should be added.

Re: Question for the doctor

I'm sorry to hear that you had to sell it...But I guess you must have kept at least one other Hiwatt, huh? Many thanks for the info, Doc! I've had good previous experiences with F&T in Marshalls, so I'd like to stick to those if possible. Please let me know if/when VHR will carry the 100+...

Question for the doctor

Hi Doc! Since we have rather similar DR201s, can you please tell me what are the values of the 6 inner mounted filter capacitors in our amps? And which brand you recommend should I ever need to replace my old ones?

Thank you.
