As you can see from the thermal pictures, V5 is really hot, hotter than the other preamp tubes. But don't worry, it worked good by now, so it will work without problems

Mark, I think you are wrong. Beam tetrodes have the same screen grid (second grid) as pentodes, the difference is between third grid, pentodes have true grid, while beam tetrodes have beam forming plate instead of true grid. Rule number 1 - NEVER modify the vintage Hiwatt

Something is very wrong with that HT2 voltage. Also, there should be some voltage across 1 ohm resistor. Check if there is a short circuit somewhere (maybe in the output tubes even).

Especially bcos it vintage PA and I think mod to DR specs shouldn't be to complicated to perform...at least I hope so. I ...
