They'll be going in here.
I know its not a real Hiwatt, but it sounds pretty good. And with the Medusa & AXA I'll be able to handle my DR103 when the occasion arises as well! (btw - that is a 2x12 ported closed back)

Re: Vintage Fanes
After much deliberation, I have decided to go with a pair of New Fanes. A medusa 150 and an AXA12.
I'll report back when I've put them through their paces.

Re: Vintage Fanes
Does the 150W medusa not overpower the AXA? Is the AXA an alnico or ceramic? Thanks The AXA's are alnico and seem to keep up nicely with the Medusa 150's. I talked to the dealer before I bought them and he assured me that it was a good combination that he uses. Phil I've seen the combination before...

I may end up getting another recone due to the poor state of the solder tabs. Would weber be a good place to go for that?

Re: Vintage Fanes
OK. Then these are definatley an option.
My other thought is a new Fane AXA12 alnico paired with a new medusa 100.
Are you familiar with the new Fanes? New or old?
Thanks

Vintage Fanes
I have been offered a pair of these.
They have been reconed. I have no idea if these are any good, worth $150 each, be a good match for a Hiwatt.
Comments and suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks

I'm guessing there's no change in status with getting DR-F speakers?

Re: EL-34 Survey
DR103s require a re-bias when new tubes are installed, right? If not, then I'd pop a set of TungSols in ans report. THe EH 6ca7s are all I've ever known in mine.

Weber AlNiCo Bluedog trade
I have a Weber AlNiCo Bluedog 16Ω 30W Speaker. Basket is in tip-top condition and it is in for a re-cone so it will be as newish. I'm looking for more power & a Hiwatt sound. Does anyone here have two speakers they would trade for this? Perhaps ceramic Weber Thames? The Bluedog sells for $200+ S...
