TungSol KT120 in a DR405 - any experience?
Hi all, Silly question - Has anyone here tried the Russian TungSol KT120 tube in a Hiwatt DR405 or have heard any reports? According to the marketing blurb: New Sensor now announces the Tung-Sol KT120, which has a plate dissipation of 60 watts, making it the most powerful tube in the 6550/KT88/KT90 ...

Re: DR405 filter caps and repairs
Sure, happy to post what ever you need although it will possibly be a few weeks before we get started on the restoration. I'll definitely be around with a question or two because biasing this thing will be scarey.
Have fun!

Re: Introduce yourself
Hello all, My name is Emil and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I lusted after a Hiwatt for years due to my love of 70's era King Crimson and Jethro Tull. I have recently built a VHR DR103, which is documented in this gallery linked below: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35799859@N00/sets/72157626415184...

DR405 filter caps and repairs
Hi all, I will soon be replacing the filter capacitors and tubes in a friends DR405 amplifier. A question he has asked me, whick I would like to run past you guys, is whether there would be any negative effect in increasing the 100uF filter caps to 200uF. I'd expect there to be less power supply rip...

Re: EL-34 Survey
I have a set of reissue Tung-Sol EL34's in my recently built VHR DR103 and am extremely happy with them. Lots of room shaking bottom in those while still sounding rather crisp. Nailed the early 70's Jethro Tull sound with a clean boost in front. Not as expensive as the Winged C's, but damn good in m...
