Difference between 70's Hiwatt tolex and the new stuff everyone has?

Hey y'all!

Is there any difference between the old 70's Hiwatt tolex and the new type that everyone stocks (including Hiwatt itself)?

Does the same apply to those of us in europe as well? It would be prohibitively expensive to ship a 4x12 back and forth........

Adj bias circuit question

A few years ago I let a tech recap my DR103 and perform general service etc. In the process he suggested that he should install an adjustable bias circuit and remove what he claimed was an aftermarket slave output/input circuit. I didn't think anything of it at the time but I recently opened it up o...

Anyone remember.......

a guy named David Strelz aka "dcsbulldog" over at PP? He was supposedly linked in some way with the Hiwatt company - in what respect I don't know. The nick description @ PP says audio engineer. I think he was the one who initiated the "The Hiwatt Story" website and If I recall co...

Re: DR504 head cabinet

Thx for the link Gunter! They do have have a Hiwatt "style" head cab but as far as I can tell it's not really vintage correct - just a standard Hiwatt looking headshell. It's great to have a resource here in europe though :)

DR504 head cabinet

Hey y'all, well, I checked out the dr504 head I aquired a while back more thoroughly today and it turns out the head cab is cracked. I previously thought the cab was fine and only the tolex/badge/chassis screws and feet needed to be replaced but it looks like I will need a new cab. Where can I find ...

Re: cap job myself

Vintage Hiwatt Restorations ie Hi-Tone online shop used to have recap kits for vintage Hiwatts - not sure if they still do? Status says out-of-stock - don't know if it's temporary or they'll be back in stock soon.......

Chassis screws

Does anyone have a source for Hylight era chassis screws and feet? I'm restoring a '78 DR504 cabinet and would like to use period correct parts as far as possible. Unfortunately the screws/feet were missing when I aquired the amp. Any help is appreciated......
