I sold this Hiwatt Custom 50 through Capsule Music last month. If anyone knows the person that purchased it, I have some background info on the amp that the new owner may appreciate.

That puts my mind at ease. Thank you Doctor. I really appreciate your advice.Dr.HIWATT wrote:I wouldn't expect to get more than $1500.00 out of it on a good day, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
I'll let it go.

Thanks for the advice Doctor. I appreciate your bed side manner.Dr.HIWATT wrote:$1500 isn't too far off, but take another 15% and that is pretty low. The holes in the chassis do hurt the value.
I would try to get it back tomorrow.

Re: Value of a 1972 DR504 - Help Please!
If you want to justify a higher selling price, you'd do well to document the circuitry and components. The more original your amp is, the more it's worth. Dave This whole thing is making me sick to my stomach  :) I just read the fine print of this consignment deal and I might have trouble get...

Ah! I see. I don't have any shots of the wiring...and to be honest in 15 years I don't think I ever saw the inside of the chassis.Dr.HIWATT wrote:any gut shots? Nice straight on, pics of the wiring. Those will show what is important.

Re: Value of a 1972 DR504 - Help Please!
CDN$ or US$? Have any mods been done to the amp? Dave That would be CDN funds. I have had this amp for 15 years and have not personally had any mods done. If memory serves me correct the person I purchased this from claimed to be the original owner. I got it in the UK so it hasn't had the Canadian ...

Value of a 1972 DR504 - Help Please!
Hello. I've been thinking of putting my 1972 Hiwatt DR504 on consignment at a local shop. The tolex is pretty road worn but not horrible and it's in good working order. The guy at the shop suggested $1500 was an average price to start at. It seemed low to me but maybe the insane price of the reissue...

Re: Celestions in Hiwatt?
Thanks for the information. I purchased the head and cabinet in 1994, and if memory serves me correct he was the original owner. If I am correct this serial dates the cabinet as being made in 1972, the same year as my DR504. http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/128/l_1c53a780f6d5b7cb480244470...

I picked up my cabinet yesterday, took off the back and here is what I found. http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/41/l_9ea8a5198dd349f7323d56c5a8e97075.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/67/l_23fbb33b8f4f82e3090bf895522e4085.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/89/l_5...

Re: Celestions in Hiwatt?
Thanks for the reply OSD.
I hope to pick up the cabinet over the weekend, I'll open it up and get some more info off the speakers.
What do you think this cabinet is worth? Or would you need to know the details of the speakers to make that call?

Celestions in Hiwatt?
Hello. I just found this forum and this is my first post. I have a 1972 Hylight era Hiwatt DR504 and matching 4x12 cabinet. I purchased the amp and cab from the original owner in the U.K. I haven't taken the back off of the cabinet for a couple years but if memory serves me correct it's loaded with ...
