OldSchoolDave and I have been discussing these Fanes on another forum. I was hoping posting them here could help identify them. Thanks for any help!

Re: Help w/ Fane Crescendo ID
The frames of the Hiwatt-labeled Fanes in my SA212R combo look identical to these. These also have the silver-colored dust cap, but it's a bit smaller on mine. I'd guess therefore that these came from the same era, 1979-1980.

yes, late 70's - early 80's.
you can see through the dustcap and see that they have atleast a 3"voice coil. Besides the name they have no similarity to the Crescendos that David Gilmour favors.
they probably do not suck, but I have no idea as to how they would sound for bass.

Thanks for your input!
No intention to use these for bass, although I use my JMP50 Bass amp for guitar. I was hoping these speakers would pair nicely with the aforementioned Marshall and possibly an Orange OD-120.
Any guesses as to a value on these speakers? They are in a nasty master volume silverface Twin currently and unfortunately it's a package deal... with an amp value of zero in my eyes!
Thanks again!

I would guess maybe $100 each.
I don't think they were intended for guitar, but rather PA applications. I am not 100% sure of this, but I would bet on it.

Now that's gotta be one heavy amp .stompbox wrote:They are in a nasty master volume silverface Twin currently and unfortunately it's a package deal...
I see they poked threaded studs through the baffle, to match the 4 hole radius of the Crescendos. On the front pic, you can see remnants of the original T-nuts.
The MV SFTR has got some street value, but not a heckuva lot. I had a hard time selling my spare Twin for $350. It was beat, but working. Heck, there was $100 worth of tubes in the thing (6 preamp + 4 x 6L6's)!
Like Dr.Hiwatt said, these are not the Crescendos, so don't go overboard on them.
Dave
P.S. I'm sticking by my earlier claim that they're either '81 or '84 production .

I missed that, but 81-84 is totally possible.
Re: Help w/ Fane Crescendo ID
Hey Dave! No kidding, huh? My first amp was a Quad Reverb from the same era that had been cut down from a 4x12 combo to a 2x12, so essentially the same as that Twin. Except it was loaded with Pyle speakers. It excelled at peeling the paint off walls and giving hernias.OldSchoolDave wrote:Now that's gotta be one heavy amp .
I'll ask the seller if he's willing to make a deal on the speakers only. I live in a small city, and could have a tough time selling that Twin, especially as it has been significantly modded.
Cheers!

Yeah. I'm trying to think of how that deal could work out for you. Unless the thing is loaded with gently used RCA/GE glass, you'd be better off just getting the speakers.stompbox wrote: I'll ask the seller if he's willing to make a deal on the speakers only.
