Today I bought a new old Hiwatt, it's an early seventies DR103, serial # 1362. It even came with a quad of Mullard EL34's Only thing done to it years ago was replace a faulty v2 socket, which could benefit from some attention.
Hmmm are you sure it's the standard early type preamp? It looks like something's missing next to the 220pF treble cap, and there are 2x 82k resistors (no 91k) in the phase inverter circuit. Also, there's nothing installed in the middle of the main board, where the middle screw is visible.
Oh I found the caps I need locally, so no more need
BTW this preamp almost matches mine, except for a few component values: http://hiwatt.org/Schematics/DR103sn1489pre.jpg
It has a Marshall like tonestack, but with only one half of V2 used like most regular Hiwatts.
