Dr201s and an SA412 getting nice coin.

Post by ebull »

Since one of these has sold already I figured I would post the links here for your drooling pleasure. Now I know the 200s always demand some serious money, but the KT88 seem to be recession proof.

example 1 - $3200?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/74-Hylight-Hiwa ... 500wt_1182

example 2 - BIN $3000 am I crazy to think they might get it after the last one. Lack of info is always the eBay kiss of death.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-Hiwatt-200 ... 1622wt_952

And lastly the 'bass voiced SA412. Every part of me. except my back, wanted this one.

For now i will have to keep dreaming and playing my el34 Dr201

the prices were insane on those.

they remind me of the famous quote: "a fool and his money are quickly separated"

none of those amps were in "Very Good" condition let alone "mint"

The '74 is back up for grabs - relisted.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/74-Hylight-Hiwa ... 1018056834

This time a note has been added to description: "removed a mod to the brilliant channel" ( I wonder, perhaps an internal jumper?)
Would it be fair to suspect that the buyer found this an unacceptable blemish to originality and walked away?
At this price buyer deserves to be picky, yes?

I would want to know why the OT has been off...........???
The extra hole in the chassis next to the serial tag is hard to ignore as well.

Doc must have some special super-secret HIWATT x-ray spectacles - I stared and stared at those pics and couldn't find the evidence.

check the primaries from the OT.
all three have been resoldered.

the cap from 1969 is a bit of a stretch too.

While you were responding, I was working on this.

I am not casting doubts because I am interested in it. While the amp looks clean........it gives me a few "head scratchers"

As I often do, I compared the ebay pics http://www.ebay.com/itm/280877693005 with ones you have Mark on your hiwatt.org site http://hiwatt.org/pix.php?p=DR203guts.
Seems several things are different. Wish I knew electronics to know what makes a difference and what doesn't.
As much as I want this amp the fear factor holds me back. <sigh> Happens too often with these vintage amps.

It went for $3157 + almost $100 for shipping. Nice coin indeed, but not from me.
