Hi Folks, 2nd post - so hello again everybody.
Do any of you know an authorized Hiwatt repair center in Arizona?
If there isn't any, who is the best amp tech/repair shop you know in the Phoenix or Tucson area?
Thank you very much

sorry, I can't help with your Question, but I forgot to give you the "Welcome to the Vintage HIWATT Forum!"
Re: Hiwatt repair in Arizona?
I live in the Phoenix metro area and I would suggest these shops:
1) Precision guitar http://www.precisionguitaraz.com/ Just up the road from Bizzare Guitar. the owner works on his own amps, and if he can't do it, would doubtlessly recommend someone who can. Be forewarned, he is a one-man shop. so if you are in a rush to get it done, best go elsewhere.
2) Field Services; 2445 E Thomas Rd. 602-956-4199. They are the grand-daddy of repair shops in town and have worked on everything you can possibly image. The only down side I can think of is if you don't pay the "rush" processing fee, it can literally be weeks before any work'll get done on your amp. and most likely they are not an authorized Hiwatt repair shop.
3) Maybe try calling Bruce Zinky up in Flagstaff for a recommendation?
4) Maybe call Roberto-Venn school of luthiery and ask them for a recommendation?
If you do find/use another resource, I would appreciate knowing who you used and what your impression of their work is. There are lots of amp repair guys in town. The trouble is finding the right one!

Re: Hiwatt repair in Arizona?
Hey, thank you for those references.
I bought my DR103 on ebay and I have 14 days to flag it for return, so I'm in a bit of a hurry. I found this place called mtroniks that seems reputable. It's on 41 West Main Street, Mesa AZ (http://www.mtroniks.com). Have you ever heard of it? There are good reviews on http://www.yelp.com/biz/m-troniks-mesa
The plan is to do that condition check: verify that the parts are original, in good working order, and see if there is need for repairs, tube change, etc.
Thanks again

Re: Hiwatt repair in Arizona?
in the past year I have heard people blow hot and cold about mtronics which is why I did not mention them. The last time i used them was over five years ago and they did a great job at that time. I'm not NOT recommending them, it's just I don't have a solid frame of reference to go by. FWIW, my ex-guitar teacher took his 60's Deluxe Reverb there for a tune up early in 2012 and they did a great job.
