SA212 Odd Capacitor Values?

Post by canbaz »

Hello,

I recently checked capacitor values of my 1975 Hiwatt SA212, because I want to change them soon. I noticed odd cap values different than the values mentioned on the net. The axial cap is 250 uf 64V and the 3 caps are 200 uf 350 V the rest two have the same values as the internet values. Should I respect the values on the amp and change them with the equal values or should I change recommended values on the net? Anyways what would be the difference if I install equal values or not?

The bias cap value is not critical. Anything 50uF or up will work fine here.

The 200uF are just pre-standard days values. The closest standard value is 220uF. Note that in those days the typical tolerance for electrolytic caps was +40/-20% (!), so those may well be 220 (or 180 or 230...) uF caps in reality.
