Firstly, hello to everyone from a new member Down Under in Australia.
I came across this forum whilst researching a recent STA50 purchase.
I've never owned a Hiwatt before, although have a mate who has both 200 and 400 watt heads from the 70s that he bought new.
Anyway, thought I'd post some pics of the STA50 as I'm keen to utilise the knowledge on this forum, and share my good fortune with Hiwatt enthusiasts.
From the research I've done so far, I can see that the handle isn't original, and also that the Hiwatt badge on the front is not normally there on slave heads. I'd appreciate some feedback on other aspects of the amp in regards to originality, anything that look suspect etc.
The serial plate looks OK, doesn't have the dodgy parentheses.
The power outlet looks like a modification too. It use a special type of XLR plug.
Looking forward to your help.
Cheers,
Darryl.

Re: STA50 slave head
Probably should mention that I'm not looking to sell this, I'm only after information to satisfy my own interest.
I'd like to utilise the amp at some stage in the future in my rig.
Cheers.

Re: STA50 slave head
I am not sure where you got some of your earlier info, but it is normal for slave heads to have HIWATT badges.
No one would fake a slave. But many STA's have been converted into more expensive models.
it looks completely original except possibly for the mains jack.
Congrats, it is a cool and relatively rare HIWATT.

Re: STA50 slave head
Apologies for all the posts. Can you tell I'm excited!
This photo appears on another Hiwatt web site. It's the rear of Noddy Holder from Slade's 200 watt head.
It appears to have the same power plug modification than mine does, minus the larger plate.
Anyone know anything about these connections?.
