Our family spent a day at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this week and we happened upon this well traveled Hiwatt stack on display in the Who exhibit. This was reported to be used by Pete Townshend on tour in the early 70's while promoting the "Tommy" album.
The R&R HOF is a very cool place to visit if you ever get the chance.

Sure is! We went there on my birthday two years ago.jrsdws wrote:The R&R HOF is a very cool place to visit if you ever get the chance.
I got scolded for taking a picture of that very rig. Either they've loosened their rules or you're stealthier than I .

They must've loosened the rules because everywhere you turned you were in the way of somebody snapping photos.
We thought one of the coolest parts was all of the handwritten lyrics throughout the museum. They were scribbled on everything from motel stationary and bar napkins to kegal pads.

Yeah. Gave a bit more insight into the whole creative process.jrsdws wrote: We thought one of the coolest parts was all of the handwritten lyrics throughout the museum.
Attempting to pay homage to the entire Rock and Roll genre in one building is an ambitious task. I found it interesting to see what artists and eras got lots of display space...and what didn't.
To me, the coolest thing was the Beatles' double manual Mellotron. First, because I'd never seen one like it and, second, well, 'cause the Beatles recorded with it.
But there are SO many significant items to see. Highly recommended!
