Audio Bros. 4123
I'm trying to mount standard stamped frame speakers into a 1994 Audio Bros. 4123 cab that had cast frame Fane speakers with the larger mounting diameter 4 mounting hole pattern. Does anyone have a more elegant solution than removing the baffle and re-drilling for the smaller mounting diameter?

Assuming the cab has sufficient depth, a plywood adapter could be installed between the original baffle and the new speakers. Kinda like the old Fender tone ring, but without the air gap. They'd be fussy to make, but your baffle would remain unmolested.hunnamps wrote: Does anyone have a more elegant solution than removing the baffle and re-drilling for the smaller mounting diameter?
This sort of thing is easier to do when changing speaker sizes. There may not be much clearance between the outboard bolts and the inner ones when going from 12" to 12". Mojo used to sell mounting rings for 12" to 10" conversions. I just did a quick pass on their site and couldn't locate them. Maybe they'd do a custom job for you?

you could mark the location of the mounting holes on the baffle and install hanger bolts.

Thanks for the advice - I was able to re-use all the hardware. I drilled the inner-diameter 4 standard mount holes on one of the old frames to use as a template to drill the baffle - using the original mounting pattern as an anchor to keep the speaker centered. It turned out great!

Glad you found a solution that works for you.
Next time the opportunity arises, you might consider staggering the mounting holes, so there's less opportunity of a tear-out.
