It's been stripped back to a bare shell at the moment. Drivers have been cleaned very gently and I have a small hole in one of them that needs a repair before I test them.
The whole cab including the grille cloth needs a good clean and some glue repair to the Tolex.
ie... Lots of cosmetic things I can do whilst I await my techs verdict..
Too bad about the tubes. This guys seen a few battles by the looks of it, totally screaming for a restoration. Hopefully your tech gives you a good verdict!
The Tolex I can hopefully clean up without too much effort and I have some suggestions to help clean off the grille cloth but I could do with some advice regarding cleaning of the internal wiring and components please guys.
After many years of being in a smokey environment everything is caked in a yellow haze which I would like to remove if possible?
Don't you know that thick nicotine stains add the best tone?
There no easy + safe way to clean the inside components. Maybe a toothbrush and a (very) little warm soapy water -- followed immediately by a thorough dry out.
Ha! Ok... ok... I hear you both. I will leave the insides and the smokey tone well alone..
In the great scheme of things I know this isn't important... but I would like to buy the correct replacement carry handle, two chicken head knobs, chassis securing bolts and a replacement rear lower panel.
Any pointers in that direction would be greatly appreciated please gents??
Today = Heat shield cleaned. Valve cans cleaned. Purples loaded into WEM and plastic magnet cap reglued. Grille cloth steamed with a modified Black & Decker wall paper stripper.
I received the amp back off my local tech over a week ago now and I have been playing it through a 2 x 12 WEM loaded with the Purple fanes. (damned nice it sounds too!)
Still lots to do in terms of recap etc but I thought you might like to see a mod that has now been snipped out by my tech....
The 1M5 resistor was originally 1M. I'm not sure why one would change that unless the modder empirically determined that the change in voltage made for more clean headroom (or the opposite).
The caps across the Master Volume were put in to reduce brightness.

Thanks Mark, yes the 1M5 was added for more clean headroom as there was a distorted sine wave being produced with the 1M in place apparently.
