Hey,

I go by the name ThePastRecedes on the internet. I'm very interested in DIY electronics. I've build 100+ pedals, although I only own ~7 pedals in total right now :?

I've joined to do some research and ask questions about on the Hiwatt DR504. I'm planning to build a clone for myself.

Hi everyone,

I'm joining the forum now as a new Hiwatt owner. The amp is a 1978 Hiwatt DR504 all original, even the filter caps, which will be replaced soon.

Hi
I'm a new owner of a Custom 100 DR103 from 1976.
Harry Joyce signed inside chassis.
Perfect condition and Great sound.
I bought it with a 1972 sound city cab customized to gilmour 4x12 Wem.
I love Faces (Ron Wood) sound and now I have both Ron Wood gear:
Hiwatt from small Faces to Faces
Ampeg from Faces to...Rolling stone

Best regards From France !!!

Hi All,

In Canada, and have enjoyed reading this forum for a while, so now finally joining up.
Also, recently acquired '75 DR-103 and SE4123. Extremely pleased with the pair.

Cheers,
Chris

Greetings.

It has been said that "a fool and his money are soon parted." At times I wonder if that was coined for me.

I have a small clutch of bass guitars. Most stupidly expensive, but all used live or in the studio.

As well, a Versatone bass amp and now a Hiwatt DR 106 (#288).

I've yet to turn it on because I'd like it to be done on a tech's bench with one of those Variax things. Justified caution, though my patience is wearing thin since I am having trouble scheduling with someone up here with old amp experience in the far reaches of Maine, USA.

I'm not a total newbie when it comes to tubers, having started playing in 1966 or so. BUT ....

Hoping to be able to ask many useful and stupid questions about how to best care for this beautiful old amplifier, which I hope to use in one of the studios I am involved in.

Thanks!!!

Your most Happy Faced friend

Hello and hey!

My name's Jonathan. I'm an electrical engineer that graduated college about 2 years ago, and I got a job a little over a year ago. I'm finding myself finally able to afford all these things that I merely dreamed about in high school. I don't own any Hiwatts yet, but I'm looking to change that.

I got into amplifiers in 10th grade when I built a JTM45/100 from scratch. That project made me realize that I wanted to be an electrical engineer, and it gave me a great appreciation for those who build amplifiers and have serious knowledge on the subject. I first came across Hiwatt when watching a video of ELP at Cal Jam (1974). I'm a real gear junky (mostly for vintage gear). I'm really into pedals and other effects units.

I spent most of my teenage years listening to progressive rock: anything from the "mainstream" Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, etc. to the more eclectic Premiata Forneria Marconi, Soft Machine, Gentle Giant, etc. Over the past couple years I've gotten more into metal along the lines of Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Savatage, etc. I've also been into Jazz for a long while in the vein of Buddy Rich, Charles Mingus, etc.

I'm obsessive about knowing everything I can about a subject, and I love to share what knowledge I have! I'm really looking forward to learning more in this forum and helping out others.
