Hi!
I´m Michele from Italy. I have in shop a Hiwatt DR-103 from 1978. I have open the amp for a small service and i notice a small PCB board that I think is unusual for an Hylight era amp.
Can someone help me to understand this MOD?
That is very unusual. Instead of the Turret Strip in the Input section, there are two smaller boards, one with turrets, the other a blank drilled for the components. I would not call those PCB, as they do not appear to have their routing etched in place. I have not seen this on any vintage HIWATT, but the components appear to be era-correct. Dr.HI-TONE, have you run across something like this?

it looks like a converted slave amp
Ah, that would explain it.

Oh yes. Do you think this mod was made by Hiwatt? Because i see same component, same wire, same paint on the solder point. I think that someone in the recent past modified one more time this amp.
This amp sounds good and with no Hum but a little dummy compared to my Dr-504 replica.
