Any songs that don't require learning a 20 minute guitar solo?
Well, you're right about The Captain and Tennille!
Here's a list of some of the songs we play:
Cream: I'm So Glad, Spoonful, Crossroads, Outside Woman Blues, Sunshine of Your Love, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Badge, Steppin' Out
The Who: Leavin' Here, Summertime Blues, Shakin' All Over, Young Man Blues, So Sad About Us, The Kids Are Alright, I Can't Explain
The Kinks: You Really Got Me, Tired of Waiting for You, All Day and All of the Night, I Need You
The Beatles: She Said, She Said, Yer Blues, Back in the USSR, Dear Prudence, Rain
Jeff Beck: Freeway Jam
Jack Bruce: Theme for an Imaginary Western
Mountain: For Yasgur's Farm, Nantucket Sleighride
Hendrix: Red House, Voodoo Chile
That's a partial list.
What we'd also
really like to do is have a few
traditional jams--where we just pick a key and go.
Real jams, in other words, were there's some organization but guys essentially take off! Playing off each other. Feeling the music instinctively. Keith might start a beat, then I start a bass line, then the guitarist
goes.... Or I might start a bass line, or the guitarist(s) a riff or chord.... Then ten or fifteen minutes later we end.
True jams in the old rock and roll sense.
