Right you are!

I've got quite a bit of "The Real Me" down, for example.

C'mon, boys....let's come up with a few.

Mike

PS My drummer might log on here in a few days one I give him the URL!

Most of the rock covers I play are The Beatles, U2, Tom Petty, Eagles, Mellencamp, Springsteen, Pearl Jam, CCR, Stones, etc. I even like some of the Foo Fighters songs like DOA or Times Like These;also, Van Halen songs like Ain't Talking 'bout Love.

I think some pretty basic classics that aren't too hard to learn--that we can turn into long guitar jams--will probably work out best. Chuck Berry and ZZ Top come to mind.

I've been wanting to learn ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid". I'll see if I can learn that one--it has a great riff.

Mike, what songs do you guys(the rhythm section)already play and like? I already know about the Captain and Tennille! Any songs that don't require learning a 20 minute guitar solo?

Well, you're right about The Captain and Tennille!

Here's a list of some of the songs we play:

Cream: I'm So Glad, Spoonful, Crossroads, Outside Woman Blues, Sunshine of Your Love, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Badge, Steppin' Out

The Who: Leavin' Here, Summertime Blues, Shakin' All Over, Young Man Blues, So Sad About Us, The Kids Are Alright, I Can't Explain

The Kinks: You Really Got Me, Tired of Waiting for You, All Day and All of the Night, I Need You

The Beatles: She Said, She Said, Yer Blues, Back in the USSR, Dear Prudence, Rain

Jeff Beck: Freeway Jam

Jack Bruce: Theme for an Imaginary Western

Mountain: For Yasgur's Farm, Nantucket Sleighride

Hendrix: Red House, Voodoo Chile

That's a partial list.

What we'd also really like to do is have a few traditional jams--where we just pick a key and go. Real jams, in other words, were there's some organization but guys essentially take off! Playing off each other. Feeling the music instinctively. Keith might start a beat, then I start a bass line, then the guitarist goes.... Or I might start a bass line, or the guitarist(s) a riff or chord.... Then ten or fifteen minutes later we end. True jams in the old rock and roll sense.

Note to self: Pack an extra whammy bar  . One of my favorites and, like the rest of your songlist, I played it when it was new.

Dave
...Hey! I played that song when it was new...

Good list. Of course I don't know any of those songs all the way through, but I have a few weeks to work on some of them. I see a few I've always wanted to learn but didn't for some reason.

Sounds good to me, guys.

Again, the idea of having real jams is my favorite idea....

I bet that will end up being a considerable amount of the jam time!
