Recording the Convention
Hey guys looks like we'll be recording some of the convention as it's not too often you have so many Hiwatt's in one room! Does anybody have any gear they can bring? I'm a little hesitant to bring some of my stuff over the border. Border crossings are not what they used to be... just ask mikehailwatt!
First choice for mics would be a couple of Sennheiser e906's. Second choice would be some SM57's, although I don't really like these on Hiwatt cabs... they will work. It would also be nice to have a condenser or ribbon mic to mic the room. I can bring a 2ch mic pre-amp but if anybody has a real nice one let me know. And last but not least we need a stereo or multi-track recorder to record on. If any one can help out feel free to pm me or post here!
Thanks,
JC

Re: Recording the Convention
I'll bring an e906 and an SM57.
If I could coerce my son into letting me borrow his ProTools rig we'd be set, but I don't know if he'd like me dragging that big MacPro cross-country.
I was thinking yesterday that it'd be a lot of fun to record an extended jam with everyone taking turns on lead breaks, and a mic on each cab (except Clayton's, of course ) so we could hear all the different HIWATT flavors.
Jarrett, I think you'd be fine with the border crossing, just don't mention anything about "guys you met on the Internet"... and keep all your documentation with you.

Re: Recording the Convention
I could bring a couple of Sennheiser E609's (pre silver series) if you're interested in those. And a handful of SM57's (my favorite vocal mic, with the A2WS windscreen).
I do have a Fostex V160, but am not very good at running it. I'm flying in, so it'd have to be carefully packed or carried on.

I've got some old Shure 57s and a modern set of drum mics if you need them. Let me know....

Re: Recording the Convention
Got it. The convention drummer will be absolutely thrilled that we'll be "mic-ing" the drums!JC103 wrote:If you don't mind bringing them that would be great!
Oh...there will be a PA, right?

Re: Recording the Convention
Maybe not enough of a PA considering the "Fire Power" !
I can borrow or rent more if I need to.
There is a chance that there might be a HIWATT 400 here too!

Cool! If I had more room I'd bring my PA, but with the drums and my 2x15 and DR 201 we won't have enough room in Keith's pick-up.Dr.HIWATT wrote:Maybe not enough of a PA considering the "Fire Power" !

Alright looks like I'll be bringing my pc tower to record with, so we will be able to do 2 tracks at once (which I all I think we need). I'm bringing a few other goodies so we will be able to do re-amping and have some scientific comparisons between different amps and cabs!

Re: Recording the Convention
I can bring a bunch of mics. I've got 1 Gefell condenser, 1 AT condenser, and a few average dynamics. I don't have any stands
I'll also see if I've got room for a Mackie 8x2 mixer, just in case...
