glad i found this place!

Post by floordude37 »

i found you guys only yesterday, and wow i have learned a lot in one day.
i found my dr-103 in a music store back in '91 or so and snagged it for only 300 bucks. i was told it was a '73, but since being here i have learned it's actually a '78. still cool tho.
it's been just sitting around for more than 10 years, i just recently blew the dust off of it and BANG! it works like a champ.
i found the digital camera, i'm gonna try to post some pics today ( i freely admit to being a technotard).
there is a mod on this amp, someone in the past installed a half power switch.
i guess what i'd like to know is if it looks like a professional did the work.
btw, the date on the test sticker is my 14th birthday, how cool is that?
rock on

Welcome!

You've stumbled across the right place for info on vintage Hiwatt amps! Post the same kind of "gut shot" pics you see in other threads and we'll try to figure out what has and hasn't been done to your DR103.

Out of curiosity, what kind of speaker cabinet are you playing it through?

Next year will probably be here in Columbus Indiana again, but it is a ways off.

The one good thing about having it in Columbus is the huge stack of Hiwatts there -- before anyone else even brings anything!

That must mean you've passed through the "NEVER again" stage ;) .

Maybe my schedule will permit driving (with a van-load of Hiwatts AND Hiwatt Bob!) next time...

In order to have the pics appear here, they need to be posted on a publicly available website. If you don't have one, there are dedicated photo hosting sites available.

Once in a public place, add them to a post by using this syntax (removing the spaces):

[ i m g ] http_link_to_photo [ / i m g ]

PM me if you'd like some help in uploading them. I've got plenty of web server space to spare.

well Dave, I don't know about publicly hosted pic sites, but in only one hour I managed to get all 8 pics into one e-mail.
Let me know if that helps.

go to a web site like photobucket.com and upload your pictures to their server, then you can use the img tags that Dave described to put your pictures into your posts from there. Hope that helps.

Tonight's my golf league, so I'm just now catching up on emails. When I get 'em, I'll upload to my web server and post here.

Dave

UPDATE: Just waded through 50+ emails and I didn't see any with Hiwatt pics attached :?: Did the message bounce back to you as undeliverable?
