I was watching that one myself. Unfortunately, I've had a few ebay/Fane disappointments lately and was put off by the blurry pictures.

Hope this baby sounds great. It was certainly a good one when new!

Assuming it's not DOA ... yes, it'll go in the 2x12, until I get a 4x12 built.

Any ideas on its age? Mid-late '70s?

Hey, another excuse to do some recording... a real vs. clone A/B shootout... and I'll have to make you guys guess!

The dark ink in the Serial Number blank should be the production date. I tried to zoom up on your posted pic, but it wasn't clear enough.

I'd guess early 70's. Stamped frame models took over in the late 70's.

Yeah. I just took a look at pics of some Sound City Fanes I have (which Dr. Fane may be familiar with ;) ) and the ones with similar magnet covers are dated 1971.

FWIW, the one I have with a chamfered edge on the magnet cover is dated 1972.

I only had time last night to test it -unmounted- with my MusicMan. It sounds promising. :D

If I can set aside some recording time this weekend I'll put up those A/B soundclips.

49th week of '71, correct?
