Cab on ebay - What is it?

Post by OldSchoolDave »

re: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... escription

Description says it's a 1997 cab. Was anyone making (in-name-only) Hiwatts at that time? The serial plate says Hylight Electronics, model SE4123, but the serial number - 9207 - would seem to put it in the Biacrown (and Celestion) era. Seller says "...all speakers are 31084 and the other number is 125593 they look all original with the black cast frames...". Nothing matches.

So...what's the deal?
...Hey! I played that song when it was new...

Saw that one, I figured the guy was dyslexic and assumed it was really a '79. It's a front-loader so I didn't look too close.
But that s/n??? Maybe Biacrown still had some left over Hylight tags?

I am pretty certain that it is indeed a Biacrown era cab. I had two Biacrown SE4123's in the 9250 range. I bet they were using up the remaining Hylight tags, before buying their own.

The seller was offended that I asked him to pull a speaker and post a pic :( . "That is a lot of work" and "I am true and honest seller" were his comments.

I replied that I wasn't questioning his integrity - just looking for clarification of the conflicting information... Besides, it's a FRONT LOADED CAB - unscrew 4 clips and the speaker comes out. Easy enough to swap out between sets (including soldering time).

Someone's placed a bid. Knowing mikhailwatt's allergy to front-loaders, I'm sure it can't be HIM ;) .

Wound up selling for $510 plus shipping. Somebody got a pretty decent deal, provided the speakers were transitional Fanes.

IMHO, the seller left some money on the table because pulling a speaker and taking pics was "a lot of work" :? .
