I must have missed it.
The empty bottles of Maker's Mark say otherwise  .

Dave

P.S. For the record, the vote tally (hanging chads and all) frozen at the time of the great unveiling:

Cab #1 - 2 votes = 8%
Cab #2 - 8 votes = 30%
Cab #3 - 1 vote = 3%
Cab #4 - 7 votes = 26%
Cab #5 - 4 votes = 15%
Cab #6 - 4 votes = 15%

Interesting to note that almost no one in attendance found the sound of Cab #5 (Goodmans) pleasing with the same amp settings as the other speakers. The recording apparently garnered some fans for it.
...Hey! I played that song when it was new...

Next year we'll move the mike between tests as well as the speaker cable...
I do remember suggesting this... it must of fallen on deaf ears!

hehehe

Different strokes, I guess... Clayton, are you sure those Goodmans drivers aren't toasted/broken?

They almost sound like full-range PA drivers to me, with no high-end roll off.

4 if you count Hiwatt Bob and my son... they were disenfranchised.

What a site! Vocabulary enhancement and voter fraud! Plus the occasional Stooges reference.

I'm just messing with you, sort of.

Really, though... do you roll the treble and presence all the way off? I suppose they might sound good with a clean tone, though.

I back off more treble than presence, but I back them off and add more mids. The sound great in a 2 cab setup with a Fane loaded cab.

Would someone please repost this photo that's no longer accessible thru original link?

If the recording is true enough, I'd sure love to have Cabinet #6. How can I get details for potentially duplicating it?

T.I.A. Cheers!

Recording chain was:

MIC: Sennheiser e906
PREAMP: FMR RNP
CONVERTER: M-AUDIO Audiophile 192

Mic position as shown in the pic was probably about 8ft away from the cabs.

cab 6. is a 1978 SE4123 with rear mounted stamped metal frame Fanes model #125161.
It used to live in Hollywood.

Thanks for the info. If anyone has a pic I'd appreciate seeing it.
Surprises me it didn't get more votes, but then thank God for diversity of tastes.
I used to live, work and play in Hollywood too - in 1980. Strange daze. Didn't run across any HiWatters back then - everything was about Marshalls then.
Cheers!

JC103, who did the recording and posted the photo, just left my place. He's about 8 hours from home. Hang on. I expect he'll see this and repost the photo soon.

Hey Bosco, I think the original photo was just a sketch to show the mic placement. Although I might have an actual photo of the cabs... let me get back to you.

I'll have to experiment with that, as a BIG package just arrived from Hiwatt Valley ;) .
