list of songs to jam to at the convention

Post by lp59pete »

I thought it might be helpful if someone lists a few songs to learn or at least get a little familiar with for the convention jamming. I'm willing to work on any songs suggested. I've been doing quite a bit of one-man acoustic stuff this year, so I'm ready to crank up the Hiwatt with you guys. Mike, that bass sounds really good in the video--any suggestions? :D

Sunshine of Your Love?

A decent drum machine might be nice for filling things out... assuming Clayton has a PA that can keep up with a room full of HIWATTs.

I can always borrow or rent a larger PA if needed.

I would love to hear MikeB play "the real me" from Quadrophenia!
one of my all time Favourites! I will sing and let all the better guitarists play.

Unless things change, my drummer will come along so we can act as the "unofficial official convention house rhythm section."

Hmmm.....

Sunshine of Your Love
Tales of Brave Ulysses
White Room
Politician
Sweet Wine
Young Man Blues
Summertime Blues
Shakin' All Over
I Can't Explain
Amazing Journey/Sparks
So Sad About Us

Just to name a few. Let's hear a few more suggestions!

Of course an "open jam" or two in which we just pick a key and "go" will be nice, too.

Yes, we may need to chip in and get a PA!

My drummer says he'll drive on up with me!

So that means there will be a house rhythm section. I'll bring my Hiwatt set-up and Keith will bring his drums.

Aside from the jams and other such "playing episodes," while you guys are messing with stuff Keith and I will be enjoying beer outside until it's time to jam again.

Bring plenty of beer....

Maybe we can play some acoustic songs at night while drinking some of that beer you guys are so fond of--Old Peculiar? I'm gonna see if I can learn one of your more acoustic songs Ryan;I think that would be pretty cool. Any tabs online?

Also, it was nice having someone to talk to who knows great literature! Read any great books lately Mike?

Hmmm....let's see....what have I read lately?...hmmm....well, just one author lately, William Faulkner:

Light in August
Absalom, Absalom!
The Sound and the Fury
Do Down, Moses
Collected Stories

Next question concerning literature?

Hey, do some acoustic stuff, too, guys. Keith (my drummer) and I will be sure you have a change of panties....  Well, not really....

Maybe I'll dust off the old Faulkner books.

Any more word on songs we might play? My drummer says he'd like to know well in advance (I guess it's a silly drummer thing, or perhaps he's intimidated by the thought of all those Hiwatts he'll be seeing).
