The intro to "Take a Breath" on Live in Gdańsk sounds a lot like straight guitar ---> DR103 ---> Fane-loaded cab to me. I'd assume those are his Crescendos.

I can get a similar tone with DR103 ---> SE4123 w/ Fane 122231s.

That "guy" is Music Ground... aka Hiwatt UK. :x

They pretend to be a small shop, but isn't it a coincidence that a shop in Doncaster has suddenly appeared, selling "aftermarket" Hiwatt components? They tipped their hand when they put up that Music Ground WEM/Gilmour knockoff cab. Cashing in on the repair/DIY market, selling the same (questionable) components that are used in current MG Hiwatts.

They own most of the music shops on Denmark Street. Atleast 90% of the so called HIWATT stuff on ebay.uk is them.

caveat emptor!

That is about all I can say about "those whose name shall not be mentioned". (ala Harry Potter) :lol:

Some of us do hold a special place in our hearts for them... :twisted: :lol:

Different companies, and AFAIK the Fane name wasn't stolen from its rightful heirs.

Are your 122231s one of the speaker clips from the 2008 Speaker shootout or just the Thames?
A couple of my '231s were there, but I swapped them out with the Thames just for the shootout. The ones I'm referring to are cast frames from '71/'72, same type as those in Cab #4.
