buyer beware

Post by Dr.HI-TONE »

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1970s-Hiwat ... 286.c0.m14

This amp was built in 1984 not in the 1970's as the seller claims. I sent him detailed information so that he could correct his auction last week, but he has failed to be forthcoming.

That link still works for me. Shows a bit more than 3 days remaining, with 10 bids (and the description unchanged :( ).

It's under the ebay category of "Musical Instruments > Guitar > Guitar Amplifiers > Electric ".

On Jul-28-09 at 10:39:08 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have learned that this item is in fact a 1982 Hiwatt, not from the 70s. Serial # is 16063, and it was manufactured by Biacrown.

Seller responded to me immediately when I wrote him of his description error, but as you've pointed out he still got the date wrong. I often wonder whether it's purely absent mindedness or mal-intent when these things happen. Either way it can lead to disappointment as well as wasted time, $$$$ and energy
