Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2010
I am very pleased to announce that Glen Cornick will be our special guest!
Glenn is one of the earliest big time Hylight HIWATT users from his time with Jethro Tull. He was instrumental in the birth of the DR201 and the name of the FL112.

Uhhhhhhh...."sitting on a park bench" was Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond....
But that's ok.
Assuming I can make it, I'm hoping Mr. Cornick will show me a few tricks in a few of his bass lines....
Hello to all!

So I've unwittingly offended our Special Guest well before the Convention convenes? Apologies for the faux pas.Mike B. wrote:

Guess I'd better brush up on my Tull-ology .

Our Special Guest might need some room to maneuver!

Ha! Just brushed up and I may have dodged a bullet:OldSchoolDave wrote: Guess I'd better brush up on my Tull-ology .
Only our Special Guest knows for sure!wikipedia - Aqua Lung wrote:
Personnel:
Ian Anderson: Vocals, acoustic guitar, flute
Martin Barre: electric guitar, descant recorder
John Evan: piano, organ, mellotron
Jeffrey Hammond (as "Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond"): bass guitar, alto recorder and odd voices (and backing vocals on "Mother Goose")
Clive Bunker: drums and percussion
Glenn Cornick: bass guitar (played with the band at rehearsals for the album in June 1970, some of which may also have been recording sessions, although he is not credited on the album).[7]

Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2010
I'm sure you can ask him. I'll go by what the album says and by what Ian Anderson said in numerous interviews since the album's appearance (I believe Mr. Hammond-Hammond has also referred to his playing on "Aqualung the song"). We may never know the truth, but I'm sure record companies always lie when they print something on an album.
In fact, you've convinced me, Dave. The album jacket lied.
I'll never ceased being amazed....

PS If I'm there, I'll probably not bring anything but a bass for Mr. C., actually.... That includes the drummer, too. You might want to find one.

Mine is interested - waiting to hear if he can take the time off (he's self-employed - what?) to take a road trip with yours truly.Dr.HIWATT wrote:I have two drummers in mind.
EDIT: No dice - he's got too much on his plate to take the time away. Bummer!
I might rent a pickup truck for the journey... will have cargo.

A drummer I used to play with in the 1990's is only about 40 minutes away, I discussed it with him a couple months back. He is very solid.
We could have two areas set up That would enable everyone to get in on some jamming without overworking a rhythm section.

Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2010
After clearing it with the boss.... I am in...
I'll be flying in, so I will be limited somewhat by what I can carry. I'll definitely bring one guitar (probably my Townshend SG or R4) and a few pedals. The 2 I think would be interesting to play with are a Catalinbread WIIO V.1 and a Wattson Superfuzz clone. I'd love to bring a few amps but I won't have the time off to commit to driving.
Looking forward to finally meeting and playing with you guys!
Do we have a setlist yet?
Glenn

Glad to hear that you will be here!
I've got an amp or two you can use.
Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2010
Funny, but if I did drive up from home (which I won't do as I'll be in NYC and will come right over to Indiana from there) I'd probably get in trouble by bringing the Coliseum Bass stack. I suppose you could always ban me from entering if I did that.
Stay in touch with me via PMs, Clayton, concerning the topic we discussed elsewhere. For sure I'll be there with up to two basses. How delightful it will be to see another bassist there, especially Mr. C.!!
Mike
Should I Ask Him if I'm Playing "To Cry You a Song" Correctly? (Naaaaaah....)
