Recording the 2010 Convention

Post by JC103 »

I hope to make it down there this year, and maybe, just maybe I can record some of it. Here is (IMHO) the best solution for getting accurate AB speaker and amp comparisons: http://www.radialeng.com/re-prormp.htm. I have been running some tests with the device this weekend and it works fantastically well. Record a DI guitar track into recorder, playback through the ProRMP into amp. Loop the riff and plug ito multiple amps to get the best AB comparisons. This is the ticket!

I hope you can make it, and I hope you can record parts as well!

I am definitely starting to put some $ aside for the travel expenses. A couple bucks a month over 6 months = I think I should be able to make it this year! :D

PS: Spent the day fooling around with the reamper, this thing is so cool. If any of you guys are into recording I encourage you to check it out!

So I've been thinking, if we record some speakers shootouts this year we will need a few things. It would be nice to find an Alesis Masterlink for rent. We can record guitar tracks DI into the Masterlink at 96k/24bit, loop them, and then play them back through the reamper into the various amps and then record speaker comparisons from there. It would also be awesome to track down a Royer ribbon mic for these recordings!
