Re: does any1 no the difference between crescendo A & B?
come on there must be some 1?
my guess is that 1' a guitar or bass an the other p.a.?
or just guitar or bass?
an i've seen some that r 75w i thought that they only came in 100w. it seems the crescendo range was bigger than i thought. i thought it was just 1 type of fane speaker but it seems that there is quite a few different types in the range.

There doesn't seem to be . If someone does know, they're not active (or sharing) on the internet forums. Precious little documentation on vintage Fane speakers to begin with, let alone on that elusive model.hohohiwatter wrote:come on there must be some 1?
I have seen pictures of Crescendo A's with two different label types, which would seem to indicate different eras. I have also seen photos of PA speakers with the Crescendo designation. Fane, during some eras, did use "B" as a designation for Bass. I wasn't aware of a 75 watt version and was working under the assumption that all Crescendos were 100 watters.
The more we learn, the less we know...

+1
I have seen Crescendos that were 100w. with Aluminum dustcaps, but weren't marked A or B.
I didn't know a 75w version existed.

IF those cones are original, it would make sense that "B" Crescendos were designed for Bass applications (including woofer applications in Sound Reinforcement).hohohiwatter wrote:yeh recently seen 2 that r rated 75watts,16ohms and 20,000flux density '72 (i think, but its hard to make out the label) with grey cloth dust covers.
Not sure how responsive they'd be for guitar. Some guys (myself included) like using bass speakers for guitar - in certain circumstances. Others find the stiffer cones more brittle sounding.
Will that seller provide higher quality pics of the stamps and any cone codes?

I would suspect they have the same Voice Coil as the "A", but rated lower to compensate for the bass abuse

My thoughts exactly! Lower frequencies create more stress, therefore the reduced (advertised) power handling.Dr.HIWATT wrote:I would suspect they have the same Voice Coil as the "A", but rated lower to compensate for the bass abuse

Great minds!
Indeed they may sound great with a pair of something else.

It'd be nice if the seller would use the MACRO setting on his camera for those closeups...hohohiwatter wrote: for some reason the only out of focus pics r the 1's of the labels!!
Hard to tell more from those photos. It looks as though some of the writing has been gone over with a Sharpie at some time. Not sure why. They appear to be the genuine. Just hard to tell specifics with the blurry pics. Has he provided cone codes?

Re: does any1 no the difference between crescendo A & B?
yeh i've asked about 1 of the labels seems to have been erased then appears to be rewritten this is what they sed,
The stickers are original as from the shop -just a little unclear. The serial numbers are ; 3371 and 0672. As far as I can make out,the guy with rubber stamp has overdone it on one speaker, cheers.
the other 1 seems to have the stamp print intact, maybe for some reason the other label got damaged an they just copied over the info?
