This is a very cool early Hiwatt with serial # in the 4XX range (1968?) with no master volume. Notice the odd placement of the Bulgin socket, the smaller vent on top, and the longitudinal stripes on top. Wait, why is the voltage tap selector pointing to '225V'?

This a 7XX serial # DR103 built in 1969 and used by the band Soft Machine. Is that a slave jack next to the serial tag?

1969 Hiwatt CP103. It has the four input volume knobs and lacks a 'middle' tone knob just like the CP103 amps used by The Who. There seems to be no vent on top and no bulgin socket.

Zells, several of Dr.Hiwatt's amps run at 225v. He's got a voltage regulator for that very purpose.

Do these amps run properly at 225V only, or is this voltage chosen as a matter of preference?

I have a handful that do not have 105, or 115 taps. only 225, 235, 245.

There is no tonal effect on running an amp on 125 v. 225 unless there is a descrepency between the wall voltage and the tap on the transformer.
ie. an amp set at 115v with voltage at the wall supplying 126v. compared to an autotransformer deliverying a steady 225 to an amp set at 225.

That makes sense for an exclusively European customer base. I'm guessing that these amps are all pre-1970.

Hmm, have you ever tested these (actual output voltage under load)? Or do you just "trust them?"
