Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2012
New to forum... would love to see this happen here in the Twin Cities! I've got a 10-month old so traveling is out for me.
... oh, and I've got a killer sounding DR103 from 1972 and a 1978 Cab (loaded with those 125161 speakers you guys seem to love) to share at the convention...

For those of us who are new to the convention, what kind of exhibits are there? I assume buy/sell/trade goes on, but just wondering what else happens?

Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2012
There is lots of jamming.
there are some great musicians that attend (I have heard that the VHC allstars that tore it up a couple years back may be getting back together for the weekend)
There have been speaker shootouts, but we have pretty much exhausted that IMO.
There have been effects 'show and tell" sessions
I haven't decided on a set of activities, it is a double edged sword for me. There are guys that want structure and a schedule and there are guys that want to hang out drink beer and jam.........I am damned if I do and damned if I don't
HI-TONE should have a good selection of products for guys to try out.
We have had guests in the past Glynn Reeves and Glenn Cornick come to mind.
As it is right now I am open to suggestions.

Just getting to see Dr. Hiwatt's extensive collection is pretty cool.
It's usually a pretty cozy crowd, one or two dozen people.

Oh, baby... That alone will be worth the trip (note to self: hearing protection).Dr.HIWATT wrote:(I have heard that the VHC allstars that tore it up a couple years back may be getting back together for the weekend)
I say hang out, drink beer and jam... in a loosely structured fashion.Dr.HIWATT wrote:I haven't decided on a set of activities, it is a double edged sword for me. Party on.

Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2012
I plan to attend again. Hey, it's worth the trip just to hear Professor Huss jam out at dimed volume. The HITONE gear really shined at the previous Convention...indistinguishable from equivalent Hiwatt amp & speakers. Being newer, HiTONE amps have less hum/noise compared to some vintage counterparts.

Re: Vintage HIWATT Convention 2012
5 Weeks to go!
If you can contact me or post to this thread to confirm attendance, that would be helpful.
I am undecided on the location and a head count will help aid the decision.
Based on the communication I have received, the level of musicianship should be an all time high!
if you gents can collectively work up some classics for a set list, I will forward this to the drummers.
Thanks!

I am coming as well. That ought to knock the musicianship back down a notch or 3.
Are Tribute amps welcome too??
