I like the gold flashing on the power tubes! Or is that just an optical illusion? In any case, what kind are they?

EDIT: I zoomed up on the high res pics floordude37 sent. I can make out "Made in Russia" on the EL34's, but not much else.

That is some serious flashing! I think the lack of flash makes it look goldish.

The power tubes are svetlanas, I had the entire amp retubed about 10 years ago right before i mothballed it and bought a Marshall.
I'll go look right now and report back on the action of the half power switch........
Ok, I turned on the amp, and with the switch set at 50 watts, all 4 tubes are operating.
I guess that would mean that voltage is reduced to all four.
I have a Marshall 4x12 with v-30's that i use, but in order to travel a bit lighter,I usually play this through (believe it or not) an old Peavey classic 50 that doesnt work so i use the speakers, which I think are Eminence.
It really does sound good at 50 watts thru the open cab....
I don't want to, but due to economic challenges, I may consider selling this amp.
Any thoughts on what a fair price might be?

The heaters would still be on and the tubes glowing, regardless.
But it does look like that funky 25w resistor is connected to ground and via the switch to the output valve sockets, probably to reduce the plate voltage.

My MusicMan has a half-power switch that cuts the plate voltage by about 1/3, but it does it by switching taps on the PT.

Hmmm... no 'Harry Joyce' on the chassis, yet the wiring is all right angles and tidy.

$1100-$1200 is a very fair price range.

Those valves are what is known in today's Market as winged C's.

Are you sure they're not EH "Svetlanas?" The =C= tubes I've seen have brown bases.

I am not positive, but I believe that back when those tubes were purchased, the Svet name had yet to be swiped.

I had the tubes installed at a little shop called Flynn's Guitars in Evanston Illinois.
If memory serves, I asked for a matched set of Groove Tubes.
I trusted I got what I asked for, so I never opened it up to check.......
But upon thinking about it a bit more, it was probably in '93 when it was done.
The preamp tubes say A.R.S. on them.
Aren't they a west coast distributor?
I thought I saw an ad for them in an old GP mag, but can't find it now.

ARS buys and re-brands commonly available tubes. I have ARS EL34s in the shop at the moment, both Svetlana and Chinese; I'll have to take another look at them.
