That's right...Biacrown was the era starting in '81 after Dave died. (ofcourse as you know better than me...)
Sorry, didn't mean anything with calling the combo a Biacrown.

But im just curious what my head is worth in comparison with the Hylight 50W combo...

Is there anything wrong with my Hiwatt that i don't know about, and is causing major lack of interest ?

I've been trying to sell this head many times in my own country, and no one seems to care about it, offering me way less than 1000$ for it, nobody wants to buy it.

Then i try my neighbour country, Holland, just the same there...

Then i put it here (in the right place, cause here people love Hiwatt) and there is only one person actually interested ?

Is there something that i dont know about this amp that makes it less desireable ?

I mean, ive seen people here on the forum and on the pp forum raving about other Hiwatt's, even Biacrown Heads that had prices way above what's been offered for mine.

Can someone please ease my mind and give me a guideline in the worth of my head (in dollars is ok) ?

Since I'm not exactly impartial in this situation, I'll refrain from giving my opinion on value.

This is probably more a sign of the times than something wrong with your amp. True, it could use new filter caps (not a major deal), the case is a little rough and the transformer is hardwired for 220v operation (an obstacle for those of us in North America).

Fewer people have discretionary capital for amp purchases these days and international shipping of heavy objects can really increase costs. Plus, looking to trade for a particular type of amp lessens the odds of locating a willing "buyer".

I may well be the only person on the planet who meets the criteria .

just keeping you guys posted.

I bought this amp two weeks ago and it turned out to have quite some issues.
It was very very noisy, even without an instrument plugged into it. So first thing I did was take it to a good amp tech.

I'm not an expert but this is what he told me (he actually wrote it down, i could never memorize this )

* the bias adjustment was done poorly. The tubes were exposed to 42mA which is way too much according to the tech.
* there was a bizarre connection between bright and normal channel which meant that you couldn't get any sound from the normal channel without opening the bright channel
* He also did some minor changes: new preamp valve, putting the mains-fuse behind the pilot (whatever that means), replacing a bunch of wrong resistors.

It cost me 150 euros (200$) to get it in a decent shape. But it's great now.
