I got a desperate phone call last night.
The manager of the fairgrounds had a persistant and pushy bride to be and (her mother) that had to have a wedding reception in the Community Building that I had already paid the deposit to hold.

After some kind words and careful negotiation, we are upgraded to the PAVILION at no additional charge.

Well played! I hope the pushy bride enjoys the dulcet tones of multiple cranked HIWATTS wafting across the fairgrounds  .

I was thinking "wedding crashers" and free drinks!

One of the best things about the Pavilion is that the Mighty Terazza can pull in and unload within feet of where you set up!
Most of us will benefit from that!

Im new to this forum, and just want to say how excited I am to find out the convention is probably only 20 minutes from my house. How many people usually go to this thing?

It had been steadily growing until last year.........some bonehead (doh!) picked Father's day weekend to hold it.

The previous year we had 25-26.

So is it open invitation? Is a Hiwatt the golden ticket? Can I bring a clone or one that I built? How does it work exactly?

Newcomers have to submit to the extensive Hiwatt Hazing ritual, which involves fully charged capacitors.

Just kidding, all are welcome, you just have to make a reservation with Dr. H to let him know you're coming (for planning purposes).

He might have to charge a couple of dollars to cover the cost of renting the pavilion.

Hylights and Homebrews...........if you want to show something you built.

The Convention is to celebrate Dave Reeves, his amps, and seeing old friends and making new friends.
