Clayton, Dave, et. al.,

I understand, and I will also take some of the blame as one person who had to bail; I expect "punishment" for this.

Perhaps over the next months we might be able to come up with alternatives. Frankly (as we've spoken about before, Clayton), I'm not sure if it's a good idea to hold any conventions at your house. Also, the time and expense involved in setting up a place at the fairgrounds seems a bit "unwarranted" in light of the relatively low turnout. I know you devoted a great deal of hard work to the enterprise.

Would another place work? Would Nashville? A friend of mine told me he might be able to set us up in a neat venue (essentially for free), and for those who might like to fly we would not be more than about 15-20 minutes from the airport. We'd have plenty of room for amps/jams and such, and beer and fellowship would not pose a problem at all! Nashville isn't too far down I-65, but I realize it might be too far for some guys to drive. Just an idea that I hope you'll consider if not for next year then perhaps some other year. It might also take some of the planning headaches off you and put them on someone else (under your guidance, of course).

One thing I mentioned in another post (it might be buried) is that instead of bringing any amps to next year's convention, I just might go ahead and bring my PA (or at least part of it) along with me. Then we'd have a pretty neat PA (columns--plus we could use Clayton's columns, too--subs or just one sub, mixer, snake, cables, stands, mics) that would stand up to our amplified emissions. Again, something to think about.

Now might not be a good time to decide these matters, but perhaps we can consider them in the months to come.
