Questions indeed. There is one cab in the 500 range in the registry.

that is a typo. SE4123 didn't exist that early.
I bet it is really 1501 or 5011

True that. However, is there a possibility that the cabs shared serial # designation line with the amps? According to the registry #2117 has 05/71 date code speakers. #3227 has 1/72 date code speakers. The cabs between those have date codes which more or less correspond to a progression in date codes through '71. If we assume sequential numbering of the cabs, that's about 1200 cabs in one year...pretty substantial! I'm not saying it's impossible, but it does seem like a very high number of cabs in one year, still fairly early in the Hiwatt history. These weren't your average hobby player's cabs - these were serious musicians' cabs.

Of course, if someone can come up with just one or two examples of (non-fake) amps with serial numbers identical to cabs, my whole argument goes "poof"....

No chance according to former Hylight electronics employees.

I will have to check my cabs. I believe #3227 is later than 1/72. perhaps it is legit....????

Actually 1970-1974 was the biggest booming period in HIWATT history. PA speaker enclosures are included in this range as well.
