that is right, it had been so long since I opened that cab up that I forgot which drivers it had.
It had 125161 50w. drivers!

Seriously? Did I follow this thread and read it right ...
... cab #6 (1978 SE4123) has #125161 speakers, not stamped metal frame Fanes model #122231?
Well, this would explain why it sounded so different from all the others. My search for the Holy Grail tone of that cabinet now takes a turn. But darn, those are even more rare -ugh- it figures.
BTW - <whispering> I'll be a DR-F <ahem> customer soon I hope <shhhhh>

Yeah, I was posting early on based on the incorrect recollection that those drivers were 122231's. I apologize!!!! It may sound weird, but I had seen a lot of Fanes since the last time I opened that cab.......
You are correct, those drivers are rare!
If you like that cab, you will love the DR-F's!

Absolutely no need to apologize and no it's not weird at all, as I totally relate to losing track of what's what in what, where, when, how, why... Unfortunately, it happens to me on a regular basis.
Now that I've gone back and listened yet again for the umpteenth time to all the clips it's the #6 reverse pass I liked the most but in either case I'm thinking it's the chunk factor and wider frequency range overall that I prefer whereas others were more nasal, veiled, narrow band ... hell some made the Hiwatt sound like an Orange to my ears (should I put on my firesuit now?
