by the looks of his site, he should know what he is talking about. Perhaps he doesn't get into the more ancient stuff??

Maybe he's not really into old stuff but when I mentioned Fane Crescendo on the phone he knew the model right away and said "those are old like the Earth itself". I'll see what I'll do.

And remember, there's one more Crescendo on the way here.

I like the shinkwrap idea, too.

Finally the fourth Crescendo arrived. Well packed and in very good condition.

I also found a guy who is supposed to be an expert on speakers with international clients. I told him about the Crescendos, he knew the model and said to bring 'em in. Unfortunately he's on vacation right now, so I'll have to wait like 2 weeks. I really hope he can fix them and I'll have a quad of singing crescendo's. (Probably much better than me trying to fix them)

There's one more issue I'd like to discuss. Since these speakers won't be in "original" shape anymore, do you think I should keep the alu dust caps or have them replaced with cloth dust caps? I don't really care for originality that much anymore because nobody would probably be interested in these anymore. If it'd help the sound, of course.

Check this out. Remember the guy who sold me (3) Crescendo speakers and didn't pack them well? I gave him negative feedback on ebay (otherwise I always give positive feedback as I have dealt with good people so far). Yesterday he sends me an email where he starts threaten me that I should change it.

OK, quick review of the story. I buy the Crescendo's, pay quickly, tell him about what could happen to them, ask him to pack them well, etc. Because they weren't packed well, they were damaged during transport. I tell him about it and no response. After a week and a couple emails he finally responds that someone could come over and check them out (what's this job called?) if I paid!!! but also said that he has not very much interest in this issue as he's convinced he packed the speakers well.

Am I missing something here? :?

Anyway, I decided to give him another chance. If he can get me some insurance money (the package was insured, why is it so hard for him to help me?) I'll give him positive feedback (or maybe just neutral  ).

We have a word for that sort of person ... "@sshole." :P

It always amazed me when someone gets affronted by my actually saying something about the crappy job they did. :x

Sorry to hear that. Exactly why feedback has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Even if/when a person is "wronged", the fear of having negative counter-feedback can keep them from telling the whole story.
