I've recently had one friend and one "almost friend" killed on Harleys. Once you get better ditch that bike! Hope all turns out well and I might drive on up one weekend before the Christmas holidays.
Keith and I couldn't make the party anyway. Not sure if the All-Stars will ever get together again, but it was fun a few months ago. Hey, you can form some "new" all-stars....
Again, get better fast and sell that bike and don't look back at it. Both of the guys I mentioned above had wrecked before and thought they'd be tough and get back on those bikes. Now they're dead. Sure...they were "cool" and "tough."
All the best for a speedy recovery! Keep in touch and let me know if you need anything.
Mike

I am 99% sure that I will sell the bike once it is repaired.
It was a pretty scary crash, and it will free up funds for more HIWATTs!
I bet the "All Stars" will be rockin' the valley next summer!

Hmmmm, SOMEBODY wasn't paying attention!
"Ditching the bike" was exactly what Dr.Hiwatt DID
.
I lost my two-wheel nerve after a couple of friends & acquaintances had "incidents". A short time later, we moved to the Twin Cities. Traffic is WAY too crazy up here for motorcycles! Still have the '70 Triumph Bonneville though (been in storage for 20+ years). Have a hard time parting with that British-made stuff
.

I hope to be at work again on Monday. I will probably be in a wheelchair.........but I can still work!
Sounds scary to me: one painkiller for the patient, one for the doctor, one for the patient, one for the doctor...now which tooth was it??? (cue high speed drill noise)
Seriously, glad to hear you're still functional, if a bit slowed down. And yes, more Hiwatts would be much better .. and safer!

Clayton,
Good to hear that you are alive...... Nothing is as cool as a harley, but damn, shit that would be a fender bender in a car is fatal on a bike. Almost all the guys in my band have gottne Harleys in the last few months, and the peer pressure is on. I am sticking to my GTO......
Get better soon!

How are you doing, Clayton?

I am healing fast. Got some good news today with the Orthopedic surgeon. The fracture in the tibia is in a location away from the knee joint and will heel ok without intervention.
I go back in two weeks to plan the ACL replacement surgery.
I have been doing OK at work. I am freakin' tired by the end of the day and my right (the better of the two) leg is sore. But I can see improvement daily. Most of the "road rash" is healed and the scabs have mostly flaked away. Still have lots of bruises and some swelling.
by the next convention I will be as agile as a jungle cat!

Yup, Dr. HIWATT is a great host, even on crutches. Thanks again, Doc!
That '71 sure sounded good after a little TLC. You'll have give everyone the run-down on the new
ultra-anal re-cap technique.

You mean the "no diodes were hurt during the recapping of this Hiwatt" technique? I wanna learn about that.
Does it involve any Cirque du Soliel moves
?

Yes, it does involve some contortionistic moves. No Diodes were harmed during the re-cap
Afterwords, Mike and I realized that we should have taken pictures of the procedure. Maybe I can make a short instructional piece.
