MikhailWatt sent me an email with that title and I cracked up!
A red cab and tricked out HIWATT with a WHITE KNOB controlling the channels!
Or a nice little bedtime story for "HIWATT Girl". This is the story of HIWATT Bob and the red cab!

Yup, we were just a hair slow on the trigger. It looked like the perfect candidate for a restoration and re-load.OldSchoolDave wrote:Unfortunately, I'm told the seller sold it cheap to a "friend". So, the quest for the Red Cab continues...
The Red Cab has now morphed into a No Name Ugly Black Hylight Cab... waiting for some pics.

Aw, heck, I've got one of those! The previous owner stripped off the tolex & piping & spray painted it black. Still has the tolex texture from the remaining glue.mikhailwatt wrote:The Red Cab has now morphed into a No Name Ugly Black Hylight Cab... waiting for some pics.
The grill panel is long gone. Fortunately, I've got a mate to it and can cut a replacement (it's on my long list of projects...).

I have a feeling this one is worse... recovered with some sort of black vinyl/tolex, non-original grille cloth, logo and s/n plate missing... might be hard to even prove it was ever a Hylight, other than the rear slot port.OldSchoolDave wrote:Aw, heck, I've got one of those! The Fanes are long-gone, of course, but I have some reasonable facsimiles ready to load.

I definitely want to hear those facsimilies! Too bad the way events transpired around last year's Convention.mikhailwatt wrote:The Fanes are long-gone, of course, but I have some reasonable facsimiles ready to load.
One thing for certain, original Hiwatt Fanes are getting hard to find (in good condition).

They are planning to make an appearance this year, in a 4x12 of some sort.OldSchoolDave wrote:I definitely want to hear those facsimilies!
The one 'facsimile' sure plays nice with the '71 cast frame, although the old-timer has been hogging the mic since he showed up. Stay tuned for some demo clips (I know, promises, promises)... I have some free time for recording this weekend.
