HI-TONE Amplification You Tube channel

Post by Dr.HI-TONE »

Still a work in progress, but several videos are up featuring our Custom 30 and HT2121 DR-F loaded cab. Also some comparisons with two new possible speaker offerings.

Stay tuned..............there is more to come!

Wow!!......Now your talkin!!.........Thats great !

I've been saying it a couple of times but Jees! this 2x12 cab looks great with the head on top !
The cab is wider than the head like a 4x12 half stack and I think that what makes it look so good .

I'm also very surprised on how the Strat sounds with the amp ,IT's fat and Juicy with
a lot of vintage tones ,I did'nt expect that the Strat -Hiwatt was a good match but you proved it.

It's also nice to hear the difference between the speakers,
with the 142's having a little more crisp on top .......they both sound excellent!

Awesome looking and sounding amp and cab!

Congrats !........................Louis

Thanks Louis!

I should note that all the clips were recorded with a Zoom Q3HD. No editing or mixing was done. Absolutely nothing.

Jason is a great player too!

Hi all, this is but an observation, and it comes from my dad "the really fat cyclist". I was showing him the movies, and he says. "You know if this was a hifi demo the buffs would be complaining that the sound is being altered by all those other speakers passively resonating." He then went on to explain that when he was heavily into hifi, good hi fi shops had demo rooms where the only speakers present were those being listened to.

Oh are these Dr-CRs what I hope they are?

I've been listening to this clip over and over cause I love the tone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytGpSaQY ... re=related
and I was wondering !

Even though the kerrang is there ,the amp seems to have more sweetness compared with a DR 504 or 103
where in those ,you have more upper mids spike!

Is it because of less power or choices of tubes and choke ?

Man does it sound good !!......try it with headphones ..........it's a must !!

I want to be clear to all members that I'm not receiving any money
from Doc, Dave or Mark for writing positive reviews  , it's just that the tone is very
surprisingly great for an amp and speakers that are fresh and hardly brokin in !!

Thanks, Louis.

Actually, all DR-* speakers *are* broken in using the VHR 60 hz torture chamber. It's part of our secret sauce. 8)

And as far as amps go, some designs sound as good or better when new, Hylight-style amps being in that category. (IMO)

So are you saying that David Gilmour should ditch his Hiwatts and invest in new Hitones, and he would sound even better? Pls avoid the obvious answer. :D

These quotes are from Dave and Doc,I took from the 100 watt JP thread and this 30 watt amp seems to have something
special for Doc to say never mind a 50 watt JP and go with the DR-307 30 watt! and Dave to say that it has a lot of punch and full sounding!

*OldSchoolDave
If you're after something less powerful than a 100 watter, but still punchy as hell, you really should look into the current 30 watt kit. The 4 x 6V6 output section is a great mate to the JP front end. Full sounding, yet very manageable in less-than-arena-sized venues.

Mark commented on how 4 power tubes seem to yield more depth and dimension than two. I tend to agree with that observation. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Dave

*Dr.HIWATT
I agree with Dave.
I personally think a 50w. version is pointless as the DR307 can operate four 6v6 or two KT66, two KT77 or two EL34 with a change in bias.
It is just a superior product.

Love it!

Any chance of having a clip made ............switchin on/off the switch !!

Activating the switch input is just like turning the input volume up and down. I use it as a volume boost for leads, which I'm sure was the original intent. :D

UPDATE 01 May, 2011:

New clips added, demo'ing DR-F's, Tonker-Lites, C-Rex's, Wizards, Governors and a couple of prototypes - plus some new clips with DR-F/Tonker-Lite and DR-F/C-Rex combinations.

http://www.youtube.com/user/HITONE2011

Remember that VHR can sell Eminence speakers at the lowest allowable price and they're pre-exercised - the same "torture treatment" we give our DR-F's. In other words, all speakers VHR sells are ready to rock out of the box!

...Hey! I played that song when it was new...
