122952 Fane?

Hi everyone
i'm a new user and i just love this blog!

I've a question for u :
Can anyone identify this speaker
Is it an original Fane?
I only know it is 16ohm and belived to be 75w
Numbers stamped are:
35/78 – 122952

it is a Fane from Mid 1978.
used in PA speakers
not suitable for guitar

Yes, it is an original Fane. I am not familiar with that model number. Judging from the size of the magnet - which is not the only indicator of power handling, but can be related - I would say it is at least a 75w speaker. Perhaps 100 watts.

As Dr.Hiwatt spotted, the "whizzer" cone in the center was designed for extended high frequency response. These speakers were used in PA systems and cabinets intended for Organ use. They work best for clean sound. They do not break up nicely at volume, as guitar players often prefer, and can sound brittle and ice-picky when pushed hard.

They may work well for bass, depending on the player's style. Or, for a very clean guitar.
